However, many domestic firms have historically struggled to access international markets due to stringent global standards and certification requirements.

Movit has now overcome these hurdles after securing the necessary certifications and clearances required to export to the United States.

According to the company’s head, Bruce Mpamizo, the achievement reflects years of investment in quality assurance and compliance.

“This milestone demonstrates our readiness to compete on the global stage,” Mpamizo said, noting the company’s ambition to expand beyond Uganda and build a stronger international presence.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a broader win for Uganda’s manufacturing sector.

The Executive Director of the Uganda Manufacturers Association, Ezra Muhumuza, said Movit’s entry into the US market signals improving standards among Ugandan products.

“This is not just a victory for Movit but for Uganda as a whole. It highlights the potential of our industries to meet international standards and compete globally,” he said.

During the flag-off of the first consignment to the United States, the Executive Director of the Uganda Free Zones Authority, Hezi Alinda, commended Movit for its resilience and commitment to excellence.

He said export-oriented industries play a key role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and increasing foreign exchange earnings.

The breakthrough places Movit among a growing number of Ugandan companies accessing high-value international markets, supporting the country’s broader export diversification agenda and industrial development strategy.
